Menstruation Matters - Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022
-
Menstruation Matters is a free event on Menstrual Hygiene Day, filled with activities and education on all things menstruation and reproductive health.
Period and menstruation continues to be stigmatised as a normal bodily function, it prevents girls from getting an education, earning an income and equally participating in everyday life. This stigmatisation has extended to a luxury tax and VAT being applied to period products here in Ghana and in many countries across the world.
The day will include activities that will enable participants to explore all aspects of menstruation through group discussion and artistic expression.
Followed by a panel discussion about normalising period conversations and supporting activities to address period poverty.
Menses Cup is offering an alternative and sustainable way to menstruate. We are a period project by Women’s Health Initiative is a charity working with women and girls to improve their sexual and reproductive health. We push back on menstruation stigma and raise awareness about the challenges in accessing menstrual products.
